Twin Mission [7/10]
Happy Chinese New Year everybody!
It's already the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year but hey, in these 15 days, I can say it as much as I want and know I'm not too late! Haha~
Just came back from a movie with my younger sister and my parents. It's like a family tradition to watch a movie on the second day of the lunar new year every year. It is also the only day in a year when my parents actually willingly and actively suggest going to the movies lol.
Normally, every year, we watch a Jackie Chan's movie, but this year, he has somehow not come up with a movie for the new year and so, we watched a "runner up" movie just as full of kung fu moves as Jackie Chan's one lol. Can you guess? It's Twins Mission!
Don't faint, don't faint. It's not as bad as it sounds.
A Tibetan dZi bead on its way to be exhibited in Hong Kong was stolen. With a possible link to a long-lost cult, the Gemini Clan, the guardian of the dZi bead Lucky and his adopted son Hey tried to solicit the help of the head of the Clan, the Principal, who refused to get involved, to track down the bead. However, when the mysterious gang seriously wounded Lucky after another attack, the Principal reluctantly summoned the help of the Clan's former members - Twins.
Well, honestly speaking, some of the effects could use a little work on, like, what was with all the glass breaking?! But like my mother said, Jackie Chan trashes plenty of cars in his movies too and glass is so much cheaper. Lol!
And not meaning to be a scary movie, the "deaths" aren't much to look at at all, maybe so as not to scare kids?
The comedy effect is not bad, quite lame at times but still good laughter. And I love all their suppositely sleek moves as they switch and steal things. So smooth you wouldn't believe it!
The soundtrack is at times not suitable, and the CG effect sometimes too fake, also, the use of many twin actors is quite cool yet a somewhat tiring experience because it's kind of hard to keep track of who's who once all the kung fu action starts.
Hmm... But all in all, I'd have to give it a 7 out of 10. Twins still look as pretty as they should, and the cute Hey (Wu Jing) really looks like a good actor/fighter. A good watch! =D
